Exports Fall 2.4% in First 20 Days of May

Exports dropped more than two percent in the first 20 days of May due to the impact of U.S. tariffs.

5월 첫 20일 동안 수출은 미국의 관세 영향으로 2% 이상 감소했습니다.

According to preliminary data from the Korea Customs Service on Wednesday, the country’s outbound shipments reached 32 billion U.S. dollars during the cited period, down two-point-four percent from a year earlier.

수요일 관세청의 잠정 집계에 따르면, 이 기간 동안 한국의 수출은 320억 달러로 전년 동기 대비 2.4% 감소했습니다.

Average daily exports also fell two-point-four percent, with the number of working days the same as last year at 12-and-a-half.

평균 일일 수출도 2.4% 감소했으며, 근무일 수는 작년과 같은 12.5일이었습니다.

Eight of the nation’s ten major export items posted declines, led by automobiles which fell six-point-three percent during the 20-day period.

10대 주요 수출 품목 중 8개가 감소했으며, 자동차가 6.3% 하락하며 감소폭이 가장 컸습니다.

Semiconductors shipments were among the few sectors that saw gains, rising 17-point-three percent in the same period.

반도체는 증가한 몇 안 되는 품목 중 하나로, 같은 기간 17.3% 상승했습니다.

Exports to the United States slipped 14-point-six percent, while shipments to Vietnam increased three percent.

미국으로의 수출은 14.6% 감소했으며, 베트남으로의 수출은 3% 증가했습니다.

Imports fell two-point-five percent year-on-year to 32-point-two billion dollars, resulting in a trade deficit of 300 million dollars.

수입은 전년 동기 대비 2.5% 감소한 322억 달러를 기록했으며, 이로 인해 3억 달러의 무역적자가 발생했습니다.
